Our Journey

Honored to serve as a Stroke Health Ambassador during the EWOW Career Panel at Roxbury Elementary School!

I had the opportunity to introduce students to the world of community health and stroke awareness — sharing how education can truly save lives. During the sessions, we learned the BE FAST warning signs of stroke, explored the S.T.R.A.P. the Stroke App, and read from the BEFAST: Be a Superhero book to make learning fun and memorable.

Students also received stroke awareness bookmarks and easy-to-understand infographics so they can continue sharing life-saving knowledge with their families at home.

This experience reached 525 students across kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grade, empowering young learners with the confidence to recognize stroke symptoms and take action when it matters most.

Moments like these show that students can become powerful health advocates when given the right tools and knowledge. The next generation of changemakers is already making an impact.

2026 Brain Health Awareness Week

The Future of Brain Health Starts Now: Young Changemakers Driving Impact Today

I was truly honored to be part of “The Future of Brain Health Starts Now: Young Changemakers Driving Impact Today.”

During the 2026 Brain Health Awareness Week, I had the opportunity to share my journey as a stroke health educator and talk about how youth-led education can transform communities. From teaching students the BE FAST warning signs to building conversations around prevention, awareness, and action — this work proves that age does not limit impact.

Seeing young leaders come together with a shared mission reminded me that the future of brain health isn’t something we wait for — it’s something we build now. Every conversation, every classroom, and every community reached brings us one step closer to saving lives through awareness.

Grateful to contribute my voice and represent the power of education, advocacy, and prevention in shaping healthier futures. 💙

Two 1st Grade Sessions @ Gurney Elementary School

The energy in the 1st grade classrooms at Gurney Elementary School was amazing! ❤️

Over 100+ students learned the BE FAST signs of stroke in a fun, simple, and engaging way. I talked about how to notice changes in balance, face drooping, arm weakness, speech difficulty, and why it’s time to call 911 immediately.

After introducing the S.T.R.A.P. the Stroke App, I read BEFAST: Be a Superhero — and the students loved discovering that knowing stroke signs makes them real-life superheroes.

Education at this age builds confidence, courage, and life-saving awareness.

This week was extra special with 100+ kindergarteners at Gurney Elementary School! 💛

I introduced stroke awareness in a way they could understand — teaching BE FAST through movement, repetition, and storytelling. Even our youngest learners practiced what to do and who to tell if someone needs help.

I shared the S.T.R.A.P. the Stroke App and read BEFAST: Be a Superhero, showing them that heroes come in all sizes.

When kindergarteners can say “BE FAST,” that’s how we know the future is brighter — and safer.

Two Kindergartener Sessions @ Gurney Elementary School
Two 3rd Grade Sessions @ Gurney Elementary School

This week I had an incredible time with the 3rd graders at Gurney Elementary School! 💙

Over 100+ students learned how to recognize the warning signs of stroke using BE FAST — Balance, Eyes, Face, Arms, Speech, Time. These students asked thoughtful questions, shared personal connections, and truly stepped into their role as young health leaders.

I also introduced them to the S.T.R.A.P. the Stroke App and showed them how technology can help save lives.

To wrap it up, I read BEFAST: Be a Superhero and reminded them that knowing the signs makes YOU the hero.

When kids understand stroke symptoms early, they can help protect their families and communities. That’s the power of youth education.

100+ amazing 2nd graders at Gurney Elementary School are now official BE FAST champions! 🚨

We spent the day learning how to spot stroke symptoms quickly and why TIME is so important. Through interactive examples and real-life scenarios, students practiced what to do if they ever see someone showing warning signs.

I also shared the S.T.R.A.P. the Stroke App and read BEFAST Be a Superhero, reminding them that even small voices can make a big difference.

Second graders truly show that you are never too young to save a life!

Two 2nd Grade Sessions @ Gurney Elementary School
Edison International School - Tamil Nadu, India

At Edison International School, in India, I had the opportunity to impact 50 fifth and sixth grade students through an engaging stroke awareness session. During the visit, I read the children’s book “BE FAST: Be a Superhero”, helping students learn the warning signs of stroke in a fun, memorable, and age-appropriate way.

Students were introduced to the BE FAST method so they can recognize symptoms such as balance problems, facial drooping, arm weakness, speech difficulty, and the importance of calling for help quickly. After the reading session, students participated in an interactive activity using S.T.R.A.P. the Stroke coloring sheets, reinforcing what they learned while encouraging creativity.

It was an incredible honor to lead a stroke awareness workshop with the students at Sanatana Dharma Classes!

During our session, I taught them how to recognize the symptoms of stroke using BE FAST — empowering them with knowledge that can truly save lives. The students learned how to Spot the signs, Tell a trusted adult, Respond quickly by calling 911, and understand how we can all help Prevent stroke through healthy habits.

I also introduced them to the Congressional App Challenge–winning app, S.T.R.A.P. the Stroke, showing how technology can be used to spread awareness and educate communities in a powerful way. Seeing their excitement about youth innovation and public health was inspiring!

To make it even more engaging, we read BEFAST: Be a Superhero together — reminding every student that YOU can be a hero just by knowing the signs and acting fast
