Nandita Srikumar

I’m the founder of S.T.R.A.P. the Stroke, a youth-led stroke awareness initiative created to make stroke education simple, memorable, and accessible—especially for children and families.

As a Youth Ambassador in the Sevaro CHLD Program, I actively work to spread stroke awareness among kids, helping them understand the signs of stroke and the importance of acting fast. Through this role, I’ve seen how powerful early education can be when complex medical information is taught in a way kids truly understand.

Why I Started S.T.R.A.P. the Stroke

Stroke is often seen as something that only affects adults, but awareness shouldn’t start after it’s too late. I realized that many people—including kids—don’t know the warning signs or what to do in an emergency.

I started S.T.R.A.P. the Stroke because I believe knowledge saves lives, and kids are capable of learning more than we give them credit for. When children understand stroke signs early, they don’t just protect themselves—they become advocates for their families and communities.

Youth Leadership & Advocacy

Being a Youth Ambassador with the Sevaro CHLD Program has shaped how I approach stroke education. It reinforced the idea that youth voices matter in public health and that kids can be powerful agents of change when given the right tools.

This experience inspired me to create content, programs, and resources that are:

  • Kid-friendly but medically accurate

  • Empowering, not scary

  • Focused on recognition, response, and prevention

What Drives Me

At the heart of my work is a simple belief: No life should be lost due to lack of awareness.

I’m driven by:

  • Making stroke education accessible at a young age

  • Turning awareness into confident action

  • Empowering the next generation to help save lives

S.T.R.A.P. the Stroke is more than an initiative—it’s a movement to build a stroke-smart generation.
